IBM TotalStorage SAN Volume Controller is designed to reduce the complexity and costs of managing storage networks. It allows users to virtualise their storage and helps increase the utilization of existing capacity and centralize the management of multiple controllers in an open-system SAN environment. The SAN Volume Controller now supports attachment to non-IBM storage systems. Now storage administrators can reallocate and scale storage capacity and make changes to more underlying storage systems without disrupting applications.
